The unique beauty of this countryside can be admired to its advantage from the magnificent hilltop villages, dotted amongst the rocky peaks to protect them from the weather. This makes these places unique and entirely worth the visit due to viewpoints that will literally take your breath away. These mind-blowing views can be appreciated from the Mas della Luna, a magnificent building of 250 m² from the 16th Century, a home with a heart, a place of incomparable charm.
This ideal residence is a must for those wishing to discover the true colours of Provence. Not only does this domain offer a fantastic view out over the Lubéron and its valley from the spectacular swimming pool that will give you a tempting foretaste of Provence, but this 6-acre wooded domain with a small river running through it also houses Provencal terraced land and the renowned bories, the historic huts made from lauze stone that were constructed between 2 to 5 centuries ago and have since made the region famous.
What's more, you can also see the nearby troglodyte houses from the grounds. By the way, the dining room of the farmhouse itself is in fact decorated in the style of an ancient borie... In addition to this, there are two courtyards paved in rough local stone, lined with trees and overlooking the landscape.
A peaceful haven, the Mas della Luna stands on a vast rocky headland with a wonderful vegetation of oaks, pines and olive trees bordered with a carpet of thyme on the terraced land that makes you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere when actually you are only five minutes from the main square of a village classed amongst 'the most beautiful villages in France', Gordes, a major tourist area where numerous well-known personalities have set up house.
Inside, the decor combines a traditional spirit with a light contemporary touch, a harmonious mix of family furniture and contemporary furnishings.
Don't miss a trip to the famous Village des Bories, just a few minutes away and classed as an historical monument in 1977. Situated 3.5km from Gordes, this village, with its bread ovens, sheepfolds and wine vats, constitutes the highest concentration of dry stone habitations in the area, which date from the Bronze Age with the most recent additions dating from the 18th Century. 1) So that you’ll be able to admire the unique spectacle of the lavender fields in bloom, keep in mind that lavenders blossom from mid June till the end of July or mid-August depending on the year! From mid-july to mid-august or end of august, you are in the heart of the distillation process, so don't miss to be at the good place at the good time!
2) A car is absolutely necessary to visit Provence. We provide your rental car upon request at special rates.
